Pre-School
Morchard
Bishop Pre-School is a voluntary group, run by parents which is staffed
by qualified play leaders. We are Members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance
offering provision from three years old with a 1-6 ratio which is kept as all times. We are registered to take 20 children at any session.
Staff
Pre-School staff comprise of Kate Price and Jo Courtier supervising with Vicky Warren, Muriel Power, Penny Baugh and Bridget North assisting.
Pre-School sessions
Pre-School sessions run at the 'Church Room' situated beside the Millennium Garden in Church Street, each weekday morning, 9.30am - 12 noon during term time. Children can enjoy free play as well
as take part in organised activities.
During our sessions we provide a wide range of activities to suit all the children's individual needs. We keep records on the children's developmental progress which is planned from the Foundation Stage Early Years Curriculum. The children enjoy a stimulating variety of learning opportunities and as the children progress to promote a smooth transition to school. we visit the Primary School on a regular basis enjoying the playtime, P.E equipment, school field and apparatus and story/singing time in Class 1 with the children's future teacher.
We operate a library system which we hope will encourage sharing and enjoyment of books, creating a home/pre-school link.
THe children are also invited to bring things to share during 'show and tell' that relate to the theme of that half-term. This helps build their confidence within the group.
Helping your child settle in
You are welcome to stay with your child until they are confident to be
left. Your child will be assigned a key worker who will spend time developing
a relationship with him/her. Any concerns you may have about your child's
needs can be discussed with the key worker.
Contacting the Pre-School
The playgroup mobile number is 0781 696 7140. Please let us know if your
child is going to be late or unable to attend a session.
Finance
There is a registration fee of £10.00 plus £4.00 per session for the first
term in which your child is three. Thereafter you child is eligible to
receive funding from the government. We plan our budgets according to
forecasted numbers of children each term. It is expected that children
attend the sessions to which they have committed, as money must be returned
to the government for sessions missed, other than for illness or family
holidays.
